Hacienda Na Xamena

Hacienda Na Xamena

Set 180 metres on a hilltop, overlooking the turquoise Mediterranean Sea, you will find one of the most luxurious hotels you could wish to stay at. The five star Hacienda Na Xamena built in the halcyon days of the 1970s by architect Daniel Lipszyc, the hotel is a haven of serenity, set amongst a pine forest in a beautiful natural environment on the northern coast of Ibiza.

A 30 minute drive from the airport, entering the resort by a windy hill top road, we were greeted at reception by friendly professional staff and as our luggage was taken to our room we were offered a guided tour of the hotel. It was early evening and the illuminated poolside looked spectacular as we headed on to the Eden restaurant, run by chef Fran Lopez, who has two Michelin stars to his name. ‘By the Pool’ service is also available which has a simple and tasty menu which we used, and the food was exceptional. Breakfast was also taken on the terrace around the pool and had a varied selection of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, bread, baguettes, bacon, sausages, cereals and yoghurts. We also had eggs cooked to order with fresh salmon, followed by crepes

The Double Superior room that we stayed in was stunning, with a huge bed with a mattress that moulded around you, giving you a really comfortable nights sleep. Adjacent to the panoramic windows was a jacuzzi, so you could relax and take in the sea views at the same time, we used this facility every day! Spacious and bright decor, with soft scatter cushions that resembled small pebbles from the beach, flat screen satellite television and a free, fast Wi-FI service that worked throughout the hotel. A minibar was available if required, air conditioning, safety deposit box, bathrobes, towels and slippers. With 77 rooms, this ensures that you never feel too overcrowded and receive that personal touch.

In the bathroom there was an illuminated magnifying mirror, complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. In the evening the mood lighting was a nice touch which had strip lights and strategically placed natural rocks that glowed. One impressive service was their use of the free Press Reader App, that allowed us to download from a possible 4000 of the worlds best magazines and papers, so I had up to 30 photography magazines on my iPad to read whilst on holiday.

We were told by Irene, who looked after us throughout our stay that the tree in the central courtyard was planted at the same time as the construction of the hotel and has grown up as a centrepiece, the roots made for a a lovely contrast on the ceramic tiles.

Leisure facilities on site are plentiful, with three swimming pools, two outdoor and one heated indoor pool. A games area with table football and table tennis, a pool table, giant chess board, a cinema with comfortable sofas and a wide range of Netflix movies to watch, tennis courts and mountain bikes to explore the surrounding countryside.

The gym has some high-tech equipment that included weights, cross trainer, spin bike and treadmill.

The furnishings and ornaments that decorate the hotel are beautiful and there are lovely little areas set aside throughout so that you can sit and relax and take in the surroundings. Artefacts from around the globe adorn the public areas, our favourites were the Egyptian statues, the monkey coffee table, the hat collection on the wall by the large television in the lounge and the beautifully carved wooden doors.

The setting was the highlight for us, overlooking a natural environment high up on the cliffs. This for us was the authentic side of Ibiza and we came away with a feeling of calmness. You must experience the Cascadas Suspendidas, an outdoor treatment consisting of eight different pools heated at various temperatures which provide high pressure hydro jet massages starting from the soles of your feet and ending with your head. Lasting about 45 minutes, the last pool had a magnificent view over the sea.

La Posidonia Spa, which takes its name from the important seaweed that grows around Ibiza, is an onsite sanctuary, offering yoga classes, stretching and meditation as well as skin and facial treatments.

The service…ahh the service, from the moment that we arrived right up until we left, when the management were offering to arrange transportation to the airport and personally carrying our luggage…they wouldn’t let us touch it :-)

We felt like the staff became friends with us over such a short stay, with a lovely welcome and genuine smiles when they saw us. We shared stories of various travel adventures that we had been on, which made for such an enjoyable stay.

This area is renowned for the most stunning sunsets and at the Hacienda Na Xamena you have the perfect view between the surrounding cliffs to photograph the vibrant colours as the sun slowly sets on the horizon.

A big ‘Thank You’ to all of the staff at the Hacienda Na Xamena for the lovely welcome you gave both of us and having us stay in your beautiful hotel.

Our stay was complimentary. As always, all opinions are my own.
